Biography:
Ms. Sterling was born and raised in Schererville, Indiana. She has had an interest in education since her early years as a child. She received her Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Elementary Education from Purdue University Calumet.
Her interest in teaching peeked during her five years of experience in teaching preschool in St. John, IN. She continued her teaching career by serving as a substitute teacher for many schools in Northwest Indiana while she was a full time student earning her degree. She conducted her student teaching in Hammond, IN, and was named Student Teacher of the Year by her university supervisor! Ms. Sterling also served as an RTI aide for the School City of Hammond serving students K-5 where she implemented a new program to assist students in reading and mathematics. She continued her teaching through her work at Sylvan in East Chicago, Schererville, and Gary, IN.
Ms. Sterling previously taught second grade at Discovery Charter School in Chesterton, IN.
She is thrilled to be working at 21st Century Charter @ Gary teaching kindergarten this year!
