Who inspires Kelly and why?
21st Century Charter School at Gary inspires me, because it allows me to be the teacher I have always wanted to be.

Biography:
Mrs. Rothermel was born and raised in Michigan City, Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University Northwest at Gary, where she majored in Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography. She later went on to earn her K-12 Visual Arts teaching license from Valparaiso University in Indiana.

In 2000, she began her teaching career in her hometown. In addition to her public and private school teaching experience-, she has also taught at a local art center, in a day treatment program for special needs students, and at an agency that serves disabled adults through employment and education. She has helped her students display and sell their work in several shows, festivals, and competitions; and has written letters of recommendations and advised in portfolio assembly.

She is an artist and professional photographer that has been awarded and published; and has participated in several exhibits, competitions, and associations. She has worked in an art gallery, owned and operated a professional photography studio, and has juried and judged art shows. This is her second year at 21st Century Charter School @ Gary.
