Ms. Knight was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. In 1995, she received a certification in Phlebotomy from Indiana University Northwest. She worked in the laboratory at Munster Community Hospital for several years. During that time, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Healthcare Management. Although, being a healthcare employee was always rewarding to her, she has always had a passion for teaching. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Knight received her Bachelor of Science degree from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Elementary Education. Also, she has earned a Mild Interventions license from Indiana University Northwest. Currently, she is pursuing her Master of Education degree from Indiana University Northwest with an anticipated graduation date of May, 2012.

She began her teaching career in the Gary Community School Corporation where she taught for 5 years in the areas of special education as well as visual art.

Presently, Ms. Knight serves on the Advisory Board for the Urban League of Northwest Indiana.

Ms. Knight has always wanted to be an educator and is honored to be a part of the family at 21st Century Charter School @ Gary.
